Freelance Spaceman
Marcus Ute, Independent Filmmaker
Hello and welcome to my personal website/portfolio.
I'm Marcus Ute and I'm an independent, freelance filmmaker who shoots and edits intimate scale, documentary style pieces entirely on my own (with the help of some stock footage). My academic background is in social and cultural anthropology (Stanford, class of 2021) so I've been using the learning process of making small scale filmmaking projects to apply my training in researching and writing about people. I'm also a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe here on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Below there are four pieces I've made for clients in the world of academia, feel free to check those out.
The Elk Culture Project Ep. 2: Processing
The second episode of a series of documentary introductions to teaching modules that focus on the relationship between the tribes of the Wind River Indian Reservation and elk
The Elk Culture Project Ep. 3
Food
The third mini documentary for the elk culture project teaching module
MODERN Ep. 1: PANDEMIC
The first episode of a series of documentary style shorts that I'm developing
The Elk Culture Project Ep. 4
Teaching and Storytelling
The fourth mini documentary for the elk culture project
